THE LEMON

Lemons are vegetables that we would grow in our garden; They are very useful to make juices, salad is a good topic to add a different flavor to any food.
Who does not like lemon? In the mango, in the salad.
Use it as a topic and enjoy it most of the days of your life to start growing lemons we will do it hydroponically.
The Mexican lemon is propagated by seed (free foot) and in a vegetative form.



PER SEED
Advantage: Plants are vigorous and productive.
Disadvantage: It takes 3-5 years to start production. Poorly productive plants with low-quality fruit may appear. They are susceptible to root rot or gomosis caused by the fungus Phytophthora parasitica. Trees grow erect and very thorny.

BY YEMA OR GRAFT:
Advantages: The grafted trees have the characteristics of the mother plant and are uniform in performance and quality. They are precocious to enter production. Its less vigorous bearing allows better management and a greater number of plants per surface.
Disadvantage: Diseases such as Sadness, Psorosis, Exocortis and Cachexia can be transmitted. Graft propagation comprises the following steps:

a) Selection of rootstocks. There is no perfect rootstock, but it should be considered that the pattern is the support and influences the vigor and size of the lemon tree, in addition to being the one that absorbs water and nutrients from the soil and can adapt to soils with adverse conditions for the Mexican lemon.

When selecting a pattern, its tolerance or weakness to diseases, its adaptation to deep or thin soils, the salt and limestone content, as well as the productivity and quality of the fruit must be taken into account.
b) Preparation of seedlings. The methodology for the production of plants in the nursery is as follows:

Obtaining the seed (Technical Appendix of the Standard NOM-079-FITO-2002) to avoid the spread of diseases and / or to use genetically high quality pure material, it is recommended to purchase rootstock seeds from Certified Seed Producing Orchards in Mexico or authorized by SAGARPA abroad.
